Elder Alec Mease Week 45

Hey guys!! To start thing off this week, I am going to just start off by saying this is one of the hardest weeks I have had to endure so far on mission… this week, something unexpected has happened. My recent convert brother Arhin has passed away just this past Wednesday… and I was devastated when I had heard the news! After hearing the news, me and elder palaiti rushed over to his home and all of his family and friends were there mourning his death. It was so sad to see him go so soon, but I realize now how very grateful I am to know the plan of salvation and knowing exactly where brother arhin has gone. I am so very happy for him that he was able to be baptized just before his passing! Arhin was an incredible man who loved missionary work more than anything, he was willing to stop all he was doing to come and help me and elder palaiti translate with investigators that we have. he referred us to one of his very good friends named brother joseph who was just recently baptized just this last week, and arhin was able to experience his baptism just 4 days before his passing.. I am so thankful for the example he has set for me in my life and I will most definitely see him again in the next life!

I did my best to not let arhins passing affect the work in the area! It’s a little more difficult not having him with us to translate but I am sure that we will be able to find someone soon.  This week me and elder palaiti went into a new part of our area called nsuta and walked around the whole day talking with people and seeing if they are interested in learning with us! We found 2 families who were very interested in the church after teaching them the first lesson and getting to know them well they committed to come to church! On Sunday the only individuals who were able to attend church out of the family was their children! I feel that they had a great time and learned something new, it was great seeing them come to church but was sad to hear that the parents weren’t able to make it but I am sure that they will be able to come next week!

This week I also was able to have interviews with mission president and I just talked with him about my area and also about brother arhin and he gave me some great insights on what I could do when I return home. And that is to do his temple work.. It really touched me when he had said that and I told myself it is something that I want to do when I return home! I am thankful for my mission president and all he does to help me out and also the mission! There have been many changes to the mission that have helped the missionaries out a ton with the work! I am very motivated for the next coming months in my mission! Also due to the fact that in just a few weeks, one of the area presidencies  elder katchner Is coming to our mission for a mission tour and I am very excited to hear from him and what he has to say that we could do better as missionaries and servants of the lord!
Everything this week has been well! I love you all so very much and I will continue to let you know how the fruit in my area continues to grow as me and elder palaiti nourish and plant seeds in the anyinabrim area! Very soon here, we will be able to baptize brother yaws family and his neighbors and I am so excited when the day comes and I hope that I will still be here to witness it when it does! Hope you all have a great week this week! Love you guys
